US FCT Plan Results: Molicel
as the ONLY Battery Provider
The US Department
of Defence’s foreign purchase sector – Comparative Testing
Office (CTO) announced on the 3rd the selection results of
equipment firms in Taiwan. A total of six firms made the cut,
including E-one Moli Energy Corp (Molicel) for its prismatic
high-capacity lithium-ion battery pack. Molicel is the only
lithium-ion battery manufacturer selected – affirming its position
in battery technology development and production.
Beginning 2000, Molicel has received continuous orders from
the US Military Force and Taiwan’s military force. This year,
the US Department of Defense’s foreign purchase sector – Comparative
Testing Office (CTO) collaborated with the “Taiwanese Engineering
of Defense Union” to host the “2005 US FCT Convention” in March.
The event will assess the firms that have the potential of
being US Military’s supplier for equipments. After they passed
the evaluation, they will be on the list of US Military suppliers.
In this convention, a total of thirty five firms were nominated.
The first elimination round already took place; six firms,
including Molicel, passed the selection process with seven
products.
Molicel is the world’s first manufacturer of lithium-ion battery
for power tools, and electric bikes. Its ability is shown in
being selected as armory equipment supplier of US Military.
This certainly puts Molicel on the map as an innovative designer
and developer in the world.
Molicel’s high-power lithium-ion cell is already being supplied
to Metco – the world’s second largest power tool producer.
Also, Molicel’s e-bike and electric skateboard are two products
that receive wide attention from many renowned European dealers.
There are even firms that suggest collaboration, anticipating
to lead a new era of lithium-ion cell technology.
