E-One
Moli Energy will launch the Prismatic Lithium battery in
July.
After its
success in Cylinder Lithium Cells, E-One Moli Energy will
launch the much-anticipated Prismatic Lithium battery in
July. It is not only a Tec-logical breakthrough for Taiwan
battery industry; also an important milestone for the local
cell makers entering the Japanese dominated high-end market.
Companies such as Koo’s Group,
YiFu Financial Consulting Group, DonYuang Cell, ChingYi Textile
Ltd. and Taiwan Paper Ltd. are all stakeholders of E-One
Moli Energy Corp. Since the company’s founding in 1998,
it experienced three capital increase in cash to expend its
capital to 190million NTD.The current chairman is Leslie
Koo (辜成允), and the current general manager is Dr. Han-Cheng
Kuo.
Lithium-ion cell plays the central
roll in mobile phone, notebook computer and portable electronic
devices. In order to fulfill the “Time to Market” need of
these industries, E-One teamed up with Chung- Shan Institute
of Science and Technology to establish a trail-run facility,
and internally setup a mass production line, with one million
monthly Prismatic cell output, in Tainan Science Park.
Before the manufacturing facility in Tainan is operational,
we startigically merged Canadian lithium cell manufacturer
Moli.
Although E-One Moli Energy develops
full rang of Cylinder and Prismatic lithium-ion cell, the
market share earned rationing the global total annual usage
of 300million units is still far from satisfactory. Economy
of scale is one of the most important factor affecting the
price competitiveness, thus E-One intents to expend its manufacturing
facilities to gain leverage.
The first 1kk lithium production
line in E-One’s Tainan factory has completed machine setup
and safety testing; and currently in model 863448 (thickness
= 8.6mm) high-power rechargeable Prismatic lithium cell sample
run production. In July 20th, the production will begin
mass production.
The first stage of developing
5700m2 of the 2-acre property is to construct the warehouse
and the first production lines. After the productivity tested
okay, then will start to setup second and third stage production
lines that focuses on 6MM batteries. The expected annual
output account for all the batteries produced will be 40milliom
unite.
The demand for Secondary Lithium-ion
Cell grows at the rate of 30% world wide, and Taiwan acquires
half of that total demand because of its special OEM/ODM
position in Notebook computers and CE devices. E-One unbalanced
the supply chain by began mass production; even though Japanese
cell makers still control the core competency of Cell Core
technology, we at least have a fighting chance with superior
pricing, quality, customer service and logistic.
E-One Moli Energy believes only through strategic alliances
with domestic company can compete with Japanese cell makers
in terms of economy of scale and production capacity internationally.
